Bedfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured following a violent altercation at a takeaway food shop in Bedford.
Officers were called to Midland Road at around 7.20pm on Friday, 8 May, following reports of a disturbance.
A man in his 50s was found with serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, where he remains in a stable but serious condition.
Bedfordshire Police said the offender is described as Asian, wearing all black clothing and sunglasses.
A search of the area was carried out, but no arrests have been made.
Detective inspector Ben Searle said the incident happened at a busy time in a public place.
“We understand that a verbal altercation between the victim and the man described escalated into a physical fight, and the victim was assaulted so seriously that he sustained serious injuries,” he said.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward, quoting reference 390 of 8 May.
