Fire crews tackled a blaze at a detached house and garage in Violet Road, Wixams, last night (Wednesday) and advised nearby residents to keep their windows and doors closed overnight due to heavy smoke.
Still tackling the fire into the early hours of this morning, Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS) said there was “a lot of smoke in and around the area” and urged locals to avoid the area and reduce exposure by staying inside.
Crews had extinguished the fire by 7am this morning, and within a couple of hours, the smoke had cleared, and residents were advised to continue “business as usual”.
A fire investigation will take place to determine the cause of the fire.
