Dear editor,

At our September meeting, Kempston Town Council unanimously passed a declaration of a climate emergency.

This brings us in to line with Bedford Borough Council, the UK Parliament and many other towns and cities around the country.

Although we are a small council with limited resources, we are committed to playing our part in tackling climate change.

Our first step will be to set up a working group to develop practical suggestions for the Council’s consideration.

We are asking Kempston residents and representatives from the town’s businesses, schools, religious groups, charitable and other organisations to join this group.

Everyone is welcome.
