I am writing to express my gratitude to the local Bedford family-run businesses and community organisations that stepped forward to support The Road Victims Trust and our recent project to renovate our counselling room.
The Road Victims Trust is a small local charity and remains the only organisation in the country to provide proactive, specialist support addressing the traumatic impact of bereavement and serious injury following road traffic collisions.
This support is delivered through specialised counselling, provided free of charge to residents of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire for as long as it is required.
The charity’s main operating base is located in Kempston, where counselling is provided to our clients. As a small charity, we operate with limited funds, which are prioritised to deliver frontline services.
As a result, our counselling room was in need of a much-needed refresh after more than 15 years of regular use.
Our local Green Party Cllr, Caroline White (Kempston Central and East), successfully secured funding from Bedford Borough Council’s Kempston Central and East Ward Fund, which enabled us to renovate this space.
The labour was provided free of charge by the Rotary Club of River Great Ouse (RGO), whose members worked over two weekends to paint both the counselling room and the adjoining bathroom.

I would also like to thank and highly recommend two local businesses that supported this project. Firstly, A&A Carpets provided their services at a discounted rate, and the service, fitting and final product were excellent.
Secondly, Concorde Blinds provided a tailor-made service and product that was second to none. They manufactured and fitted the perfect blinds for the room, which were very kindly donated.
As a result of this collective effort, we now have a well-decorated counselling room with high-quality furniture and fittings, providing a safe and welcoming space for people in our community for many years to come.
I would like to thank everyone involved for their generosity and support in helping us make a meaningful difference to those affected by fatal and life-changing road collisions.
