Letters: Sticky problem ruining Bedford High Street

Trees on the newly reopened stretch of Bedford High Street

Dear editor,

The newly designed High Street is indeed a credit to the Borough but I fear its pristine condition is already marred.

Having spent the weekend in Lichfield I was surprised how the pavement there seemed so free of chewing gum.

Yet a walk down the beautiful newly laid pavement in town is already showing the horrendous sight of discarded chewing gum.

How our gum-chewing populous are unable to dispose of their waste appropriately bemuses me, are the folk of Lichfield better trained or have a rigorous and better method of removal.

One way or another the town will slowly slip into an unsightly street caused by the few.
