Dear editor,
I would like to express my horror and anger that someone chose to assault one of our volunteers on their way back from attending an event on our behalf.
Our volunteer had chosen to give their time to help us provide support for all visually impaired people in Bedfordshire to live independent lives.
In  contrast their assailant chose to try and destroy a visually impaired person’s life, confidence and independence.
Any assault is awful, but imagine how it must feel to be attacked when you can’t actually see your attacker!
I would exhort all members of the public to come forward if you have any information whatsoever that would help the police to apprehend this cowardly and spiteful attacker.
And I would like to express my thanks and huge support for our volunteer, for his time, his energy, and his courage and determination not to let this incident take away his freedom and independence.
Many thanks
Adrian Spurrell
