Central Bedfordshire is a great place to live and work and it is a particularly popular place for young families. The authority is seeing significant growth, and this is forecast to continue. The New School Places Programme (NSP) and the Schools for the Future (SFF) Programme are major Council programmes to ensure there are enough school places in the right place at the right time. The authority has a statutory requirement to ensure there are enough places for all children that want a school place.
In this key role, you’ll deputise for the Head of Service and manage the work of the School Organisation Officers in the team and ensure the NSP and SFF programme are delivered on time and on budget. You’ll work closely with schools and their leaders, implementing relevant strategies and best practice to ensure the Council has the best schools.
To join us, you’ll need an understanding and experience of the work of the Council’s duty around securing school places and the Councils programme to deliver a new education system. It is important that your experience includes time working across the council’s directorates, key partners including head teachers and governing bodies and stakeholders. You will need to inspire and lead others, promote continuous learning and build strong, productive relationships. Knowledge of school organisation legislation regarding schools and building is desirable.
