    We are looking for a Customer Liaison Officer to be part of our Access team. The team acts as the single point of access for customers and professionals who contact Adult Social Care for referrals to be taken or for advice and support/signposting.

    Key Duties

    • To provide information and advice by telephone and email for customers who require help, support and signposting with Adult Social Care
    • Obtain and record accurate referrals from professionals
    • To gather accurate information which forms the initial stages of the assessment process
    • To advise service users of the eligibility criteria and the availability of support
    • To input data including referrals and case notes on to any electronic database and review information that is recorded
    • To co-ordinate internal processes in liaison with social workers, safeguarding team and external agencies and obtaining information from partner agencies i.e. Milton Keynes Hospital, Community Health Services, Ambulance service, GPs, probation, district nurses, police, care providers and domestic violence services

    Experience, Qualifications and any Mandatory Requirements

    • Employing the Councils standards of Plain English to create meaningful statements and a good general level of education
    • An awareness of health & social care
    • Ability to use IT systems to a high standard including excellent keyboard skills

    Skills Required

    • Able to multi task by listening on the telephone whilst typing or writing accurately
    • Able to plan and prioritise own work
    • A good level of communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Ability to respond quickly to information and risk using own initiative and recognise when to escalate to a manager
    • Able to work and communicate with a wide variety of people
    • Good IT skills as demonstrated by a confident use of Microsoft Word/Outlook
    • To work effectively on own initiative whilst recognising when support/advice is required
    • Highly flexible, enthusiastic and dedicated to delivering high quality services for the population of Milton Keynes
