- Job description
This exciting role will take a lead on engaging schools, users of the two railway stations in Bedford and the wider community, with the primary focus of the work being with the Schools and Stations project. The two main aims of this project are to work with a number of Bedford schools to promote, encourage and facilitate increased levels of walking, scooting and cycling amongst pupils, parents and staff, and to encourage and support modal shift for journeys to/from Bedford Station and Bedford St Johns Station to more sustainable means.
With a good standard of education, you will have experience of working with children and of organising and delivering events, leading workshops and promoting activities, including running social media channels. With proven ability to effectively engage members of the public, excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships, you will have the ability to be pro-active and be able to motivate and enthuse others. Commitment to the promotion of sustainable transport is essential as is an understanding of schools settings and of the health benefits of active travel. Clearance by an Enhanced DBS Disclosure check is mandatory for this role.
