Booking coup

Mark Harrison, promoter at Cuffe & Taylor, highlighted the significance of securing the headliners after years of requests from local music fans.

Harrison said: “Finally – after many years of chasing Madness, we have now confirmed this iconic band for Live in Bedford Park 2027. For at least the last ten years, this is one act I’ve been continually asked to secure for Bedford.

“It will be a fantastic concert with lots of Bedfordshire and nationwide fans attending. Madness are an iconic British band with an incredible catalogue of songs and a reputation for putting on one of the most energetic live shows around.

“We can’t wait to welcome them and their incredible support act Scouting For Girls to Bedford Park, and we’re looking forward to revealing more of the 2027 concert series very soon.”

Formed in Camden in the late 1970s, Madness have earned 15 UK Top 10 singles and achieved a UK number one album with Theatre of the Absurd Presents C’est La Vie.

The band recently released Hit Parade, a career-spanning anthology featuring 45 singles from across 45 years.

Speaking about the release, Madness said: “From the early days to the latest tracks… we’ve packed up the lot and brought them all together in ‘Hit Parade’.

“It’s a proper nutty collection of our biggest and best. Press play, turn it up, and enjoy the ride.”

The group also announced the relaunch of their 1981 debut film Take It Or Leave It, which returns to UK and Ireland cinemas on 2 October before releasing on Blu-ray on 19 October.

Support act

Pop-rock band Scouting For Girls will support Madness on the night as part of their 20th anniversary celebrations next year.

The support group has sold over two million albums and built a reputation for massive festival anthems including She’s So Lovely and Elvis Ain’t Dead.
