Harpur Centre’s new Community Wall is unveiled

The Community Board at Bedford's Harpur Centre

The Harpur Centre has unveiled its new eye-catching Community Wall to provide a hub for information about local events, initiatives and projects taking place throughout the Borough.

The community noticeboard has been designed to share information about events in the centre and throughout the town and is a platform for local people and organisations to find out and share what’s on.

Its unveiling also coincides with the re-opening of the seating area in the basement, after it was closed due to social distancing.

You can find the Community Wall in the basement of the Harpur Centre, adjacent to the Captain Tom Mural. Thanks to its colourful design, representing Bedford’s many diverse communities, it’s very easy to spot.

Samantha Laycock, Harpur Centre Manager, said: “The community noticeboard gives you the chance to discover and read about some of the brilliant things that are happening right now in the Bedford community.

“Along with the re-opening of the seating area in the basement, we are also excited to welcome Fashion retailer, Cube to our already existing strong retailer line up together with Geek Retreat who will be opening their store this summer.”

Although national lockdown restrictions have been relaxed, the Harpur Centre team is recommending that face coverings are still worn within the centre and hand sanitising stations will remain in place.

“During this period of relaxation, we once again ask for your co-operation to ensure your safety and help protect the health of your fellow shoppers, store teams and Centre staff,” said Sam.

You can add your own event to the board by emailing keepintouch@harpurcentre.co.uk or by sending a poster or flyer to Community Board, Harpur Centre, Blore Tower, Horne Lane, Bedford, MK40 1TJ.
