Bus operator Grant Palmer is advising local people to allow extra time for their journeys, as roadworks on Greyfriars in Bedford are causing severe delays.
Carriageway reconstruction works are taking place immediately outside Bedford Bus Station from today (Monday) until Sunday (27 September).

Temporary traffic lights are operating 24 hours a day due to the depth and nature of the works.
Since the works began, Grant Palmer services have experienced delays of more than 20 minutes, with traffic queues stretching along Greyfriars towards Bedford College.
The congestion is affecting buses entering and leaving the station and is expected to continue throughout the week.
Live tracking
Passengers are encouraged to use the free Grant Palmer smartphone app to track their bus live and check its progress before travelling.
Details of significant disruption and any cancellations will also be published on the company’s website.
Commercial manager at Grant Palmer, Thomas Manship, said: “We are disappointed by the level of delay and disruption the works on Greyfriars are causing for our customers.
“Our buses are getting caught in the same congestion as other traffic, and we are seeing delays of more than 20 minutes on some journeys.
“We apologise to customers whose journeys are being affected and would encourage everyone travelling to or from Bedford to allow additional time throughout this week.
“Our free smartphone app is the best way to stay up to date, allowing customers to track their bus live. We will also publish details of significant disruption or cancellations on our website.
“For customers who do not have access to a smartphone or the internet, our local customer service team is available on 01525 719 719.”
The operator will continue to monitor services throughout the works to minimise the impact on local people.
