The award will also recognise those, ‘who have developed both in school and socially through their playing of schools’ football, as part of a team’.

Goldington Academy nominated Ella, outlining her “unwavering dedication, resilience and exceptional commitment to football.”

“Ella’s football journey is a testament to her determination and perseverance as she has diligently worked her up to become the captain of the Futsal team,” says the nomination.

“Ella’s contributions off the pitch are equally commendable. She selflessly volunteers her time and energy to assist with various tasks from equipment management to letter distribution.

“Her willingness to go above and beyond to support her team and contribute to the smooth operation of the football activities reflects her exceptional character and dedication to the sport.”

Ella is up against three other nominees, from the National C of E Academy, Abbeyfield School in Northampton and Cheadle Hulme High School in Greater Manchester.

Speaking to the Bedford Independent, Ella said: “It feels great to have been nominated. I love the fun of playing football, and I really enjoy making new friends and being competitive.”

The winner will win £100 in Amazon vouchers alongside £150 to spend on football supplies for their school, and will be presented at a special assembly before the end of the year should Ella be victorious.

Good luck to Ella and to Goldington Academy from everyone at the Bedford Independent!
