“I have lived in Bedford since the age of 12, Bedford is my home,” he said.

“My father decided to migrate to the United Kingdom with his young family in the 1970s. Growing up my father wanted us to adopt the best of British culture & combine it with our roots & religion hence I introduce myself as a British Asian.

“After leaving school I joined the Royal Air Force and served for Queen and country for 35 years, the last 13 years of which I served as a crew chief with the Royal Squadron.

“Now, I am ready to bring that same level of dedication to the political arena, to serve you and our constituency with the same passion and integrity.

“With a strong background in the military, I bring a unique perspective and set of skills that I believe will be valuable in serving and representing our community.

“Bedford deserves better and has been let down by the main political parties over the years.

“I hope I have your support, and your vote on the 4 July. Together we can make a change in Bedford for the better.”

The final list of candidates for Bedford is due to be published on 7 June.
