A former Bedfordshire Police officer is due to appear in court today (Wednesday) charged with rape.
Andy Southam, 53, who left the force in 2025, will appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court facing two counts of rape, four counts of sexual assault and two counts of threats to kill.
The charges follow an investigation by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Professional Standards Department.
The alleged offences took place while he was off duty.
Misconduct hearing background
Southam previously faced a misconduct hearing regarding his conduct towards nine women he met on dating sites.

In June last year, a panel ruled his actions amounted to gross misconduct after he admitted discreditable conduct relating to seven of the women.
