The Eagles picked up a convincing victory against a strong Kings Langley side as a flurry of goals in the first half was enough for the win.

Shane Bush, Lynton Goss, and Leon Lobjoit were all on the scoresheet for Bedford to secure a big three points.

The game got off to a quiet start for the first fifteen minutes with not many chances of note, but this changed dramatically soon afterwards as Bedford Town put the game out of sight for the visitors.

In the eighteenth minute, the Eagles were ahead thanks to Shane Bush who rose highest to comfortably head the ball in.

Two minutes later, it was two. A great cross in was eventually directed on to the post and it was here where Lynton Goss was first to the ball as he poked it into the back of the net.

Four minutes later, it was 3-0 and game over with another goal from a corner. The ball was missed by the goalkeeper and it fell to Leon Lobjoit at the back post to score Bedford’s third goal in six minutes.

Langley unable to fight back

Kings Langley were shell shocked and unable to respond as they went in at half time three goals down. A dream start for the Eagles and a nightmare start for Kings Langley.

The second half got off to a better start for the home side as they got one back ten minutes after the restart. A bit of a scramble from a free kick led to the ball falling to Louie Collier who made no mistake and got his goal.

Not much else happened in the game as it fizzled out and the Eagles took the points. Lee Bircham’s side go again next Saturday at the Eyrie against Welwyn Garden City, looking to leapfrog league leaders, North Leigh who sit a point ahead of Bedford Town, although the Eagles do have two games in hand.

One of those is a local derby against Kempston Rovers which is yet to be rearranged although the reverse fixture at Hillgrounds takes place on 17th February.

Tickets for all of Bedford Town’s games can be bought here.
