There were dramatic scenes in Bedford town this afternoon after a car caught fire outside QD on Greyfriars, and local man David Wright managed to capture the action.
In a public post on his Facebook page, David filmed the silver Mercedes people carrier on fire, with thick black smoke spewing into the air and into a nearby building.
A spokesperson from Bedfordshire Fire & Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the scene around 12.20pm this afternoon.
“Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the flames using hose reels and breathing apparatus and also ventilated smoke from an adjacent property. Crews have now left the scene with the National Highways Agency,” said the spokesperson.
Bedfordshire Police were also on the scene and closed the road while fire crews tackled the blaze.
There are no reports of anyone being hurt.
