Now that the Christmas light switch-on has taken place, the festive season in Bedford has officially started and some all-important decisions need to be made: where to meet Santa Claus and where to get your Christmas tree.

If you’re looking for some inspiration for family-friendly festive fun, or where you can meet the Big Man himself, Explore Bedford have rounded up some great suggestions on their website.

From pantomimes at the Quarry Theatre and the Corn Exchange to the ever-popular Christmas Tree Festival in St Paul’s Church, plus Santa’s Grotto at the Harpur Centre and Frost’s Garden Centre – it’s all there in one handy place.

Explore Bedford have also made choosing the right Christmas tree easy too. They’ve hand-picked ten places where you can get everything from a Norway Spruce to bunches of mistletoe, door wreaths and more.

“With advent starting on Sunday 1 December, it’s definitely not too early to get the fairy lights out and put your tree up,” said Explore Bedford’s Charlotte Gorringe.

“We can’t wait to get into the Christmas spirit and make the most of the festive family-fun on our doorstep.”

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
