The Bedford Independent Everyday Heroes Awards recognise people who have made a difference to our Borough and who make Bedford brilliant. We’re taking a closer look at each category and today we’re focussing on who might be an Unsung Hero sponsored by Brewpoint.
Our Everyday Heroes Awards are in partnership with The Harpur Trust, but Brewpoint is sponsoring the Unsung Hero category once again.
“Brewpoint Brewery, Bedford is honoured to sponsor the category of ‘Unsung Hero’ for the third year in a row,” said Jackie Black, from Brewpoint.
“This important award shines a light on the essential people of our community who selflessly seek to help others with no recognition, she added.
But, we need your help in finding Bedford Borough’s unsung hero of 2023 and all other everyday heroes. So, please do make sure you nominate those who you believe make Bedford Borough brilliant by midnight on 31 January 2024.
Please remember the nomination must be for activities carried out between January and December 2023.
This year, shortlisted nominees will be invited to attend our awards ceremony, hosted by Bedford School, at the Quarry Theatre on 25 April to see if they have been named a Bedford Independent Everyday Hero for 2023.

Unsung Hero sponsored by Brewpoint
Bedford Borough is full of unsung heroes, and we think it’s time to help them shine. Do you know someone who is always looking out for their neighbours, gives back to their community or has recently shown an act of bravery?
This is our broadest category, and we want to hear inspirational stories about great Bedfordians. So, if you know someone who has done something outstanding to help others, that does not fit into any of our other categories, then this is the award for them.
“By sponsoring these awards we aim to give thanks and offer encouragement to the many other ‘Unsung Heros’ in Bedford,” added Jackie.
“Without all of them, our town would not be the same. We are Bedford’s local independent brewery, run by a fifth-generation family of craft brewers. Our core value is to continue supporting our local community.
“Thanks to the Bedford Independent for this opportunity and thanks to all the ‘Unsung Heros’ out there.”
