Children from Cauldwell Primary School joined councillors and volunteers to plant hundreds of bulbs to brighten up their area come next Spring.
The bulbs were funded through the ward funds of the three Cauldwell councillors: Cllr Abu Sultan, Cllr Fouzia Atiq, and Cllr Harish Thapar, who joined the students in grabbing their spades, donning their wellies and getting their hands dirty for the good of the neighbourhood.
Cllr Abu Sultan highlighted the significance of the initiative, saying: “This project is not just about planting bulbs; it’s about planting a sense of community and pride in our environment.
“It’s wonderful to see young people getting involved and learning the value of contributing to their local area.”
Cllr Fouzia Atiq echoed these sentiments, adding, “These flowers will symbolise growth, unity, and the power of working together.”
Cllr Harish Thapar added: “It’s amazing what we can achieve when we come together. These flowers will brighten this community space and bring joy to everyone who sees them.”
The students, guided by their teachers and the councillors, planted a mix of spring bulbs, including daffodils and tulips, which are expected to create a stunning display in the months to come.
The three councillors thanked the dedicated volunteers who came forward to support the project and the council officers whose behind-the-scenes efforts ensured that everything ran smoothly.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who lent their time and energy to make this possible. It’s a true testament to the strength of our community,” said Cllr Sultan.
Mrs Noreen Leonard, Deputy Headteacher from Cauldwell Primary School said it was a great opportunity for the students to engage with the community.
“They had so much fun and can’t wait to see the results of their hard work,” she said.
The initiative has been praised by residents, many of whom look forward to the burst of colour that will brighten the community’s landscape. As one local resident said, “It’s lovely to see everyone coming together for such a positive cause. These little acts make a big difference.”
One young participant shared their excitement, saying: “I can’t wait to see the flowers bloom. It feels good knowing we helped make the area prettier.”
With the bulbs safely in the ground, the community now eagerly awaits Spring, when the fruits of this collaboration will bloom for all to enjoy.
