Local and national organisations, as well as charities and community groups, will be on hand to offer money-saving advice at Bedford’s first Cost of Living Fair, a new event to help Bedfordians cope with rising prices.
Bedford Credit Union is launching the one-day event on Saturday, 29 March at the Harpur Suite to help Bedfordians save money, budget and become financially resilient in the cost-of-living crisis.

Bedford Credit Union is a not-for-profit community bank owned by its members, offering simple, straightforward banking services. Anyone who lives or works in their area of common bond can become a member and start saving for just £5 a year.
At the event, visitors will also be able to swap books and craft supplies, play “Pass the PiggyBank” or submit their favourite money-saving tip for the chance to win a prize kindly donated by The Longholme Café and Kiosk in the Park.
Bedford Repair Café will be on hand to host free mini repair shops, so you can bring along a broken item for volunteer fixers to check over on the day.
Bedford Credit Union marketing manager, Katrina, said: “This event is open to everybody, so whether you consider yourself to be struggling or if you would just like to find ways to cut down on spending, it’s a free fun event for Bedfordshire residents who want to get savvy with their savings.”
Also joining in on the day is Share Bedford, the volunteer-run organisation that runs Bedford’s Library of Things.
Susan from Share Bedford said: “We’ve only recently launched the Bedford Library of Things at Bedford Central Library, so this will be a great opportunity to engage with people and explain how a Library of Things can help everyone to save money and prevent waste.”
The Cost of Living Fair takes place from 10am – 3pm at the Harpur Suite in Bedford town centre on Saturday, 29 March. You can find out more here.
