Location Summary

Brickhill sits towards the north of the town centre running east to Kimbolton Road and Manton Heights Industrial Estate to the west, developed post WW2 to assist with the rising population of Bedford.

Within the Parish sit independent Pilgrims Pre-Preparatory School (Harpur Trust), Scott Primary School, Brickhill Primary School and St Thomas More, a Catholic Secondary and 6th Form School.

There are two parades of shops that serve Brickhill which include a Tesco Express and a One Stop alongside a Pharmacy and Post Office.

The Harpur ward - named after Sir William Harpur a famous Bedfordian who became Lord Mayor of London – houses Manton Heights Industrial Estate and residential areas Poets, Prime Ministers and Black Tom (named after a notorious 18th century Highwayman).

Aside from 1970’s built Manton Heights the rest of the Ward was built around the 19th century. Within the area Tavistock Street and Bromham Road have many pubs, shops and restaurants with Tavistock known for Indian cuisine.

Supported by Primary Schools Edith Cavell and Livingstone Primary there are also three Independent Schools - Bedford Modern (Harpur Trust), Polam and Rushmoor.
