A barber shop in Bedford is opening up on Boxing Day to provide food, festive fun and hair cuts to the town’s homeless.
The Cavalier Club, on the corner of Harpur Street and Lime Street, is also accepting donations of jumpers, hats and men’s and ladies’ toiletries ahead of the festive get-together.
“We have set up this event for the homeless, but it’s aimed at anyone who needs a little bit of a lift over the festive period,” said owner, Siobhan Moriarty-Jones.
“So if you’re feeling lonely, hungry or just fancy popping down and being part of what will be a great day, please do.
“We look forward to making this a really memorable day. There will be no photos or media coverage of the day as we don’t want anyone feeling anxious about coming along.”
