Year 11 pupils at Castle Newnham All-Through School in Bedford were recently treated to an action-packed conference to help them tackle exam stress and plan for their futures.
The event kicked off with a free breakfast, setting a positive tone for a day focused on pupil wellbeing and academic resilience.

Beating exam burnout
Staff guided local pupils through evidence-based revision techniques, with a strong focus on memory retention.
The sessions were specifically designed to maximise exam efficiency while protecting teenagers from the very real risk of academic burnout.
Pupils also mapped out clear targets and set actionable steps toward success.
They were encouraged to explore various career pathways, helping them to align their personal strengths with their future ambitions.
Alumni return
The day featured inspiring contributions from former pupils Alana Crooks and Gemma James, alongside empowering sessions on self-belief led by guest speaker Laura Dellar.
Recognising that exam pressure affects the whole family, the event concluded with a dedicated session for parents and carers.
This final workshop offered practical strategies to help parents support their children’s learning and mental wellbeing at home.
Principal Donna Neely-Hayes said: “Nothing can stop what we can do together. We designed this day to give our Year 11 pupils the space, tools, and inspiration they need to set their sights high and step confidently into their full potential.
“Our goal is to cultivate a culture of care, excellence and high aspiration, ensuring every pupil feels fully supported – academically and personally – as they prepare for their exams and the bright futures ahead.”
