Bedford’s Castle Mound is getting upgraded to become part of a new tourist attraction creating a new slide in the centre of town.
The slide, which will use the mound’s natural sloping is being installed to help attract more people into the town.
“Adults and children alike will love it,” said a Council spokesperson, “and we can’t wait for it to open.
“They’ll start at the top and then slide all the way down to then go and enjoy Bedford’s shops.”
The slide will be 25ft long from top to bottom initially, but there’s a rumour another longer slide could be installed that follows the mound as a spiral.
“For years the mound has kind of just sat there, not really doing much,” added the spokesperson, “now maybe it’ll start giving back to the town and be more useful”.
It’s hoped the slide will be ready for this year’s river festival and will be free to use.
Well, it’s midday and as tradition dictates we need to let you know that this is (of course) an April Fool’s Day joke. Thanks for joining in with the fun.
