If you’re looking for something to do this Bank Holiday Sunday, then look no further than St Cuthbert’s Street, which is hosting a free all-day festival – and everyone’s invited.

For the first time, the road will be closed to traffic and the street’s independent businesses will be throwing open their doors and bringing the party atmosphere with good food, drinks, DJs and live music.

The event is a collaboration between the thriving indies on St Cuthbert’s Street including Roosters, Beerfly, Herd, Vanilla Tree, The Store, Italian Touch by Ivano, Rice Thai and The Flying Cork. It follows the success of their inaugural street party last year, but with the added benefit no cars or buses to ruin the vibe.

Each business will be spilling out onto the road, so grab some food and drink, pull up a chair and enjoy the atmosphere. Expect wine tastings, beers, a la carte menus, coffees, DJs, live music, ice-creams, pizzas, shopping and walk-in tattoos available. There will be something for everyone and fingers crossed for some good weather to enjoy it.

The event runs from midday until 6pm, with some of the food and drink venues staying open until late as normal.

Rosanna Heasman of zero waste shop, The Store, in S Cuthbert’s Arcade said: “St Cuthbert’s Street has really become the indie retail centre of Bedford and we love supporting each other and creating fantastic events to bring people up to our street and show off what the many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars have to offer.”

The nearest car parks are at Lurke Street (multi-storey) and St Peter’s Street and both are free all day on Sundays. There is also ample cycle parking.
