Bonus points for Blues will see them face Yorkshire Carnegie

Blues Championship Cup

Bedford Blues’ win over Hartpury will see them go on to face Yorkshire Carnegie, who are top of pool one, next February.

While their bonus point win over Cornish Pirates gave them safe passage from pool three and into the final eight of the Championship Cup the trip to Leeds won’t be easy.

Blues Director of Rugby Mike Rayer said: “We have always said that we are taking this competition very seriously so we are delighted to have gotten through to the quarter-finals.

“People may look at Yorkshire Carnegie’s league position and think this is a great draw for us, but Carnegie are on the up as their recent performances have shown. Five wins out of six in the cup is a fantastic return and will be a huge boost for all of their players.

“Trips to Yorkshire are never easy but knock-out rugby is always great fun so we are really looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

The final eight draw will take place over the 1-3 February with:

  • Ealing Trailfinders v Nottingham
  • London Irish v Coventry
  • Yorkshire Carnegie v Bedford Blues
  • Jersey Reds v Cornish Pirates

Exact date and times to be confirmed.
