The volunteer-run BedPop Repair Shops have been saving stuff from landfill since 2016 and their next event is on Saturday 16 February at the Tavistock Community Centre.
Set up by Katie Allen and Daniel Churchill, the aim is to minimise the environmental impact of today’s throwaway consumer culture and ‘fast fashion’. “Anything we can do to prolong the life of clothes, bikes, toys and electricals is essential,” said Katie. “Our BedPop Repair Shop fixers are enthusiastic volunteers with a passion for sharing their knowledge. They will show you how to mend your things, whether it’s a lamp, record player, pair of jeans or a lawnmower!”
Over the last three years, the BedPop Repair Shops have hosted chair up-cycling workings with Emmaus and up-cycling talks with TV’s Max McMurdo.
If you’ve got something that needs repairing the BedPop fixers are here to help!
“We want to run more events throughout the year,” said Katie. “We are looking for more fixers, so if you’re a keen handy man (or woman) please do get in touch.” Email bedpoprepairshop@gmail.com if you can help.
