Summer 2022 in Bedford is already shaping up nicely and there’s a new addition to the festival calendar with the county’s first event dedicated to gin on 25 June.

Bedfordshire Gin Fest will be bringing a host of juniper-based drinks to Russell Park next June for a one-day festival showcasing over 20 distilleries – from local independent companies to well-known favourites.

And while gin is the star of the show, the family-friendly festival will cater for all food and drink enthusiasts thanks to collaborations with TASTE Bedford and Beerfly.

TASTE Bedford will be bringing their usual passion and provenance to the festival with local artisan food producers at the TASTE Food Market along with the new TASTE @Home featuring flowers, ceramics, candles, woodcraft and even a chance to get hands-on with some of the ‘have a go’ activities.

Taste Bedford makes a welcome return as part of the Gin Fest

Bedford’s best craft beer shop and taproom, BeerFly will be hosting a craft beer marquee that will offer a large range of local, national and imported modern beers and ciders.

Festival Director Mark Draper – the man behind the hugely popular Bedford Running Festival – said: “We are delighted to be bringing a new type of outdoor event to Bedford next year. Bedford is crying out for more, fun, family-focused events and this is what we are aiming for with Bedfordshire Gin Fest.

“Although this is a celebration of our favourite drinks, there will still be plenty to keep the whole family inspired and entertained throughout the day with live music, educational talks, taster sessions and have-a-go activities for the children.”

Discounted ‘Early Bird’ tickets go on sale from 5 December and you can find out more and book here.

Other events taking place in Bedford next summer include the much-anticipated River Festival as well as live gigs from Simply Red and Tom Grennan.

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
