Motorists travelling through Kempston face potential evening delays over the coming months due to police-escorted abnormal load convoys travelling from Bedfordshire to London.
Bedfordshire Police issued a travel advisory confirming that officers from the Roads Policing Unit will escort the heavy loads twice a week until mid-December.
Convoy route
The escorts are scheduled for Thursday and Sunday evenings, starting Thursday (10 September).
Convoys will depart Kempston at 8.00pm and travel along the westbound A421 before taking the southbound M1 toward the M25.
Officers expect each police escort to complete its route by 9.30pm.
Drivers planning to travel along these routes during convoy times are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
