Bedford singer/songwriter Tom Grennan is in “good spirits” after he was attacked after a gig in New York on Wednesday morning (20 April).
A representative for Tom reiterated a previous statement issued on social media, but said he would update the Bedford Independent “when there’s anything to add”.
The statement posted yesterday (Thursday) said, “in the early hours of this morning after Tom’s New York show he was the victim of an unprovoked attack and robbery outside a bar in Manhattan.
“Tom is currently in hospital being assessed by doctors for his injuries which include a ruptured Ear, torn Ear-Drum and issue with his previously fractured jaw.
“Despite this Tom is in good spirits but needs to temporarily recuperate whilst doctors assess his ability to continue with his touring.”
The statement posted by Tom’s management added that they have had to postpone a planned show in Washington as a precaution and that Tom is “desperate not to let anyone down”.
Tom recent received two Brit Award nominations for best rock/alternative act and song of the year.
He has also recently joined other artists to campaign to encourage people struggling with their mental health to seek support by speaking about his own mental health battles and how therapy had helped him

Tom will be back in his hometown on 4 June to kick off the Bedford Park Concerts which will also feature Simply Red, Paul Weller, The Specials and Cafe Mambo.
