Bedford’s Oasis Beach Pool has re-opened

Oasis Refurb 2019
(l-r) before and after

It’s hot out there and a cool dip in a local swimming pool is just what the doctor ordered. Thank goodness then that Bedford’s Oasis Beach Pool has finally re-opened.

The pool closed at the end of June for refurbishment of its flumes and some other important maintenance work.

It reopened last week, just in time for the summer holidays.

While the refurbished flumes will be welcome to many, the real coup is that finally the outside pool has also been re-opened.

The whole building has also had a maintenance refresh and new flooring has been installed in the reception area.

Cllr Doug McMurdo, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said “After a short but vital period of refurbishment and maintenance works, it is great to have Oasis Beach Pool back open for the summer holidays.”

To make sure everyone has their chance to make the most of the facilities, the pool operates a sessions process. To book your session in advance, head to their website or call the pool on 01234 272100

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
