A Bedford-based wellbeing organisation supporting young people has been added to the NHS MiDoS directory, allowing GPs and healthcare professionals to signpost patients to its services.

Soulful Co, founded by Bedfordian Hannah Tyers, provides wellbeing workshops, community events and online resources aimed at helping young people build confidence, emotional resilience and life skills before they reach crisis point.

The organisation focuses on prevention and education, offering support through personal experiences alongside professional signposting.

Its services are designed to complement, rather than replace, clinical mental health support.

Hannah says the inclusion on the NHS directory reflects a growing recognition that wellbeing support extends beyond traditional healthcare.

Hannah said: “The times are changing from just having clinical solutions; Soulful was created to bridge that gap.

“My aim is to give people this toolkit for life and a trusted place to go to for help as a preventative approach rather than a crisis solution.

“I aim to increase their emotional literacy, confidence, productivity, attendance and overall improve their wellbeing.”

Since launching, Soulful Co says it has reached more than 600,000 people through its campaigns and events.

The organisation has delivered 17 community events, six workshops and a conference, and expects to support around 1,200 young people across Bedford this year.

How it all started

The founder previously worked as a chartered surveyor before changing careers to focus on wellbeing.

They said personal experiences, including growing up with an alcoholic parent, family bereavements and caring for their own mental wellbeing, inspired the creation of Soulful Co.

Hannah said: “I achieved my goal of becoming one of the youngest female chartered surveyors, but I realised my purpose was to help others.

“I believe these skills are not optional extras; they’re essential. Life happens to all of us, but we shouldn’t have to deal with it alone.”

The organisation’s free online platform provides resources covering topics including emotional wellbeing, resilience, confidence, financial literacy, self-care and stress management.

It also signposts users to specialist support services where needed.

Alongside its digital resources, Soulful Co runs regular community activities in Bedford, including fortnightly coffee mornings and walks, as well as monthly “Chick ‘n’ Chat” community dinners in partnership with Nando’s.

The organisation also offers bespoke wellbeing workshops for schools, community groups and businesses.

Recent award

Soulful Co was recently recognised as early intervention and wellbeing coordination expert of the Year by SME News.

The organisation says it is continuing to expand its community work, with a series of events taking place across Bedford next week, including community dinners in partnership with Nando’s at three locations.

Hannah said: “I started Soulful to make a difference. Now I’m pulling a chair up to the table for young people to join the conversation, and I’m proud to be bringing our community together to help shape the future of Bedford and beyond.”

The organisation also hosts fortnightly coffee mornings, community walks and wellbeing workshops throughout the year.
