A Bedford travel agency has vowed to continue raising funds for a local woman who suffers from Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
The team at Eagle Travel are continuing to support Debbie Burrells and her ‘Daisies’ following the success of the We are Sailing cruise event in January and the recent Beds Boundary Bash.
Debbie Burrells is a popular figure in Bedford and was diagnosed with MND in 2018. She has since worked tirelessly to raise awareness and funds for the MND Association, whilst battling this incurable disease herself.
MND has now led to Debbie losing her ability to speak and walk, she is also now being fed by a tube, yet she has managed to raise over £70,000 towards her goal of £100,000.
Inspired by her spirit and determination, Eagle Travel say they will now donate 1% of the total holiday cost for every holiday or cruise booked through them in the month of May when quoting “Daisy Chain” to help Debbie reach her target.
Managing Director and owner of Eagle Travel, Sue Alexander, said: “It has been wonderful to get to know Debbie over the last six months.
“Her unbreakable spirit whilst she battles this cruel and incurable disease is just amazing. Like Debbie, we are proud Bedfordians and to witness the local community pulling together to support Debbie and her Daisies in their Mission is truly heart-warming.
“We got involved with the Cruise Evening in January and I ran the last five miles in the Boundary Bash so we are now delighted to be able to donate a percentage of every booking confirmed in the month of May to Debbie’s cause.
“Just quote “Daisy Chain” when you call us to enquire about your next cruise or holiday on 01234 348882, or email email@example.com”
