The Eagles continued their perfect start to the league season with a convincing victory over Welwyn Garden City with Lynton Goss, Ben Spaul and Louis Walsh all on the scoresheet at Herns Way for Bedford.
It was a cagey start to the game and with not much action to report on from the first twenty minutes or so, but one point of interest was that former Eagle Zak Brown was starting for the Citizens.
After twenty-five minutes, the Eagles took the lead. Some brilliant work down the wing by Louis Walsh enabled him to find Lynton Goss in the box who finished well to give Bedford the advantage.
It was a second goal in two games for Goss after joining the Eagles, as well as countless assists in the huge win against Ware, with the forward enjoying a brilliant start to life at Bedford Town.
On the stroke of half-time, it was two.
A brilliant free kick found Ryan Blake who got the ball to Ben Spaul to slam into the back of the net to double the Eagles’ advantage just before half time.
The second half opened up a lot more and either side could’ve scored. It was Welwyn who got the goal with just under twenty-five minutes to play. This came from a corner which was headed in well by Bradley Wadkins.
Soon after, Bedford restored their two-goal cushion, as a brilliant ball from Louis Walsh found Lynton Goss in on goal. He collided with the goalkeeper before Walsh slotted home to kill the game off.
Another superb win for Bedford who, alongside Mickleover, are the only team in the country to maintain a perfect league start so far this season.
