Bedford Town’s pre-season schedule for the 2024/25 season has been confirmed, with eight pre-season friendlies arranged before the Southern League Central Premier Division season kicks off on 10th August.

All of the games will be away from The Eyrie, as renovations to the ground continue with the grass surface replaced by a 3G pitch as well as brand new floodlights being installed, as confirmed by Bedford Independent at the beginning of June.

Pre-season kicks off at Beaconsfield Town of Southern League Central Division One on Saturday 6th July with the 1pm kick off time no doubt chosen to avoid a potential clash with England’s Euro 2024 quarter-final, should they make it.

2022 FA Vase champions, Newport Pagnell Town await three days later before the first of Bedford Town’s “home” fixtures against a now regular pre-season opponent, Queens Park Rangers.

That game, along with a pre-season game against Watford on 27th July will take place at Hitchin Town with work not expected to be completed in time to accommodate any friendlies.

Harpenden Town of step five follow before the Eagles travel to Leverstock Green, who joined Real Bedford in promotion from Spartans South Midlands Premier up to step four after beating FC Romania 3-0 in their own play-off final.

Thame United, who were reprieved from relegation after finishing second-bottom of Southern League Central Division One, are up next on 23rd July before the Watford game.

AFC Dunstable, who lost to Waltham Abbey in the play-off semi finals last campaign, are on 30th July before a long trip to Taunton Town in Somerset completes the schedule on 3rd August.

Season tickets now available

With the promotion to step three comes more games, as Southern League Premier Central accommodates 22 teams.

Due to the unique nature of the non-league pyramid, there are five newly promoted teams in the division with Bedford Town and Biggleswade Town joined by Lowestoft Town, Spalding United and Harborough Town.

Bishop’s Stortford and Banbury United were also relegated into this division.

Lee Bircham will certainly hope the club makes a better fist of staying in this division than they did in 2022/23, where Bedford Town capitulated after Christmas, eventually finishing bottom of the league, 18 points adrift of safety.

Fans of the Eagles were also given a boost on Thursday as the club announced that star striker, Leon Lobjoit has signed a new deal with the club and Bircham will also hope he can fire to help keep Bedford Town in step three football into the future.

Season tickets are now available to purchase via the Bedford Town online ticket portal here with tickets to the pre-season fixtures available via the Eagles’ opponent’s own systems.
