Bedford ‘tidy tip’ on Barkers Lane to close until further notice

Bedford Borough Council has just announced that the tidy tip on Barkers Lane will close until further notice.

In a statement, today (Tuesday) it said, “In line with new Government guidance around staying at home and to reduce the risk of coronavirus (COVID-19) being spread, Bedford Borough Council has decided to close the Barkers Lane ‘tidy tip’ until further notice.

“Residents are requested not to visit the site and/or leave any waste outside the site entrance.

“We appreciate this is an inconvenience for people and apologise for that. With Government guidance to only go out for essential trips and exercise, this is felt to be the right decision at this time.

“If you are having a clear out, please store your unwanted items at home, or create a compost pile for any garden waste.”
