Bedfordians are urged to take part in the Citizens Advice Bedford Big Energy Saving Winter campaign, after one resident was able to cut their energy bill by a third.
Since the beginning of Winter, staff and volunteers from Citizens Advice Bedford have been supporting local people through one to one telephone appointments and group Zoom calls to help them cut their energy bills.
Tracey Longman, Energy Super Saver at Citizens Advice Bedford shared her experience of working with one local resident.
“The person was struggling to afford energy costs and food for the household, leaving them with an awful choice of whether to go hungry or put the heating on,” said Tracey.
“Through exploring the person’s situation, we were able to identify that their monthly energy bill could be cut by a third solely by switching their supplier.
“As a result, the person will have a significant monthly saving allowing them to buy more food as required and no longer have to make such a difficult decision.”
Citizens Advice Bedford will be holding their next virtual outreach session on Thursday 14 January at 10am via Zoom to discuss how people can potentially save on their energy bills.
