Bedford performing arts students join The Opera Boys on stage

Students from a performing arts academy in Bedford took to the stage in Wellingborough recently, accompanying some of the UK’s finest classical singers.

Members of the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA) in Bedford were invited to perform with The Opera Boys at The Castle Theatre on Sunday 23 February, and they made the most of every minute of their special night.

The Opera Boys are an elite team of singers including some of the UK’s finest classical tenors.

Following their training at London’s Royal Academy of Music, members of The Opera Boys have played lead roles in the West End and on Broadway.

Over the past five years, the group has have performed over 1,000 concerts to audiences all over the world.

At the Castle Theatre, the PQA Bedford students joined The Opera Boys for musical numbers including, Close Every Door, Any Dream Will Do, We Will Rock You and This Is Me.

The students also performed by themselves, singing A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman.

Gemma McDermott, principal at PQA Bedford, said, “The students made us so proud. Opportunities like this are invaluable to our students and they gain so much from the experience.”

The Opera Boys national tour runs until 20 November 2020.
