Two men who subjected a vulnerable Bedford man to a sustained pattern of abuse and violence have each been jailed for a total of 13 years.

Jarrett Johnson, 34, of Victoria Road, Bedford, and Leon Lendor, 40, of no fixed address, were sentenced at Luton Crown Court last week (16 September).

Following a trial, the court found Johnson guilty of three counts of robbery and one count of burglary.

The court found Lendor guilty of two counts of burglary, two counts of robbery and one count of going equipped.

Both men will serve a further five years on licence, and the judge handed them an indefinite restraining order against the victim.

Horrific abuse

The court heard the pair initially met the victim to supply him with drugs before they forcibly began stealing from him.

They broke into his Bedford home multiple times between July and August 2025.

During one burglary, the men strangled the victim with a bag strap and repeatedly punched him.

On 30 July, Johnson approached the victim to steal his bag, dragging him along the floor and hitting him with a metal pole.

The men stole sentimental family jewellery, watches, ear pods and a tablet during the prolonged ordeal.

Police constable Chloe Lavery from Bedfordshire Police investigated the case.

She said: “Johnson and Lendor carried out a sustained pattern of abuse, burglary, robbery, and assault against the victim over several weeks.

“He described being physically assaulted on several occasions, including being dragged across concrete, strangled with a bag strap, punched in the head, and threatened with weapons such as a bike pump and baseball bat.

“The incidents have caused the victim deep emotional distress, with the repeated targeting having left him feeling fearful, humiliated, and unable to go out at night.

“Drugs can fuel wider violence and criminality.

“While these offences do not pertain specifically to the supply of drugs, they are central to the dangers that this lifestyle can lead to.

“We will always take any reports of aggravated robbery and burglary seriously, and I am pleased that the court has imposed such strong sentences.”

Taylor received 40 months in prison and an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim.
