Bedford College student’s artwork is out of this world

Bedford College student Eva Cringle has beaten 4,000 other entries to reach the final of the Space Foundation International Student Art Contest.

The German student who moved to the UK under the International Experience organisation saw off a global field for her work to be exhibited at the 35th Space Symposium and then Space Foundation World Headquarters and Discovery Center the Colorado.

The Year 1 Level 3 Fine Art student is building on her success at university in Hamburg to study games design.

“I love Bedford!” said Eva. “It is a beautiful place and the staff here at the college allow you to be a free spirit. I come from a small town of 5,000 people so Bedford is a smaller step then living in a huge city.”

Her can-do attitude has seen her win the chance to design an album cover for The Shtooks, a local band, and from that she has been commissioned to create another cover for a Danish/American band.

“It has been great experience to work closely with a client towards the finished result especially has I had only a few days to come up with the work,” said Eva.

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
