Bedford’s local vaccination roll-out has now racked up 100,000 doses administered at Kings House on Ampthill Road and the Gurdwara in Queen’s Park.

And the Bedford, Luton and Milton Keynes (BLMK) CCG has described the achievement as “a fantastic example of true partnership working” helping to protect local communities against COVID-19 (coronavirus).

A spokesperson from the CCG said, “We would like to say thank you to everyone involved in this magnificent milestone including BEDOC and Bedford Borough Council, who coordinated the effort.

“The Council were instrumental in setting up a dedicated website and phone line to help people book into these two centres while the team at BEDOC mobilised a rapid vaccination solution in a very short space of time.”

The local vaccination programme has delivered a number of key achievements since it began, including pop-up clinics and a national vaccination centre based at Bedford Heights.

This has now been expanded with seven pharmacy clinics opening up in Bedford, all of which can be booked via the National Booking System, either by calling 119 or going to nhs.uk/covid-vaccination

Dr Sarah Whiteman, Chair of the CCG, said: “We have been working very hard, with our partners, to bring covid under control in Bedford Borough and this is a great example of what has been achieved.

“We couldn’t do this without the support, co-operation and hard work of our local authority partners and our volunteers, and I would like to say thank you to them.”

Dr John Kedward, from BEDOC said: “We have a long-standing relationship with the local CCG, and BEDOC has been pleased to support the vaccination programme.

“We have been able to achieve this great milestone with the help of our teams working out of King’s House and the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Temple.”

You can find information about all vaccination centres on the BLMK website and social media @BLMK_CCG, as well as regular updates on opening times and drop-in clinics.

The NHS is now offering vaccines to everyone aged 25 and over, and you can book your vaccination in Bedford by going online to bedford.gov.uk/vaccinations or calling 01234 718077, or by using the national booking system by calling 119 or going to nhs.uk/covid-vaccination.
