The Bedford Blues faithful, including fans, players, friends and sponsors have raised £10,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support at this years Ladies Day at Goldington Road.
This was the second ladies day at Goldington Road, all in aid of the team’s cancer charity partner Macmillan Cancer Support. The cash was raised during the game against Doncaster Knights on 13 October through collections, auctions, raffles and more.
The special edition match day jerseys, worn during the game, proved the most popular with all of them being sold at auction.
During the presentation of the cheque, the Blues gave a special thank you to all of the sponsors who supported and provided prizes on the day, in particular 5th Avenue Hair & Beauty, who provided treatments in the Marquee and the Blues’ main shirt sponsor Blue Chip, who added £1,000 into the charity pot.
Bedford Blues Chief Operating Officer, Gareth Alred, said: “Once again we would like to thank all of our fantastic supporters at Goldington Road on helping us to make Ladies Day 2018 the best yet.
“As always the marquee was a hive of activity throughout the day, we must thank our incredible sponsors and partners who helped make the event such a huge success. To raise this record amount of £10,000 for a charity close to many of our hearts is truly amazing and demonstrates the generosity of our wonderful club and Blues family.
“Macmillan Cancer Support were fantastic to work with again, well done on their amazing efforts, we are pleased to support the great work they do in our community.”
